This term is pulled out of the dusty journals of many years passed. A time when myself and my circle were inhaling life with full lungs. I learned so much during that time that has come to shape me and my conception of the world, as it is and as it could be. I learned during this time what real acceptance was, what spirit is. I came to understand the importance of strengths and weaknesses as well as how one can so easily become the other. It was during this time that friendships grew into the bonds of family. As brothers and sisters we discovered something about life and connection that impacted one and all in a myriad of ways.
For me, it made clear an idea that’s become a core passion. Because in this time I experienced a glimpse of the potential of community in a re-defined way, to significantly shift our ability to feel meaning and connection with ourselves and each other and this world we live on. In one way or another I know that my life is about moving toward this goal of redefining what community is, what individuality, togetherness, strengths, weaknesses and balance are; the goal is inter-dependence.
This page is devoted to sharing ideas of micro-community development. I will share as many thoughts as I have thus far formulated and am sincerely open to any and all thoughts, contributions etc, from any and all. For I truly believe that this world and all of us in it, have so much more to offer than we now understand. It is not that there are magical mysteries yet waiting to be discovered so much as splendid and wonderful epiphanies that are longing to be remembered.
We have moved so far “ahead” with our progress and measures of success and moved so far away from those things that bring real meaning to our lives. We have created and learned so many things and forgotten so much of what truly matters. That is not the world I want to live in. This is not the only world that I believe is possible and I know that I am not the only one that feels this. All of the issues that are present in the world, from the environmental, the political and the social are inter-related symptoms. To try to address each in there own sphere does nothing to heal the cause, because they are all related. It is how we are living, how we see the world and ourselves, how we measure success on the yardstick of competition and comparison that leads us towards the sense of fragmentation and isolation. Each small unit doing everything to fight for survival and advance instead of each village raising the children.
I will say with pride that my ideas are built upon idealism, I don’t consider that a derogatory term. It seems to me that this is needed to inspire shifts beyond the status quo, and undoubtedly there is a middle ground that can be found through cooperation and intention.
I hope that this is well received and I look forward to exploring the potential with any and all who are moved to contribute.
My sincerest appreciation for allowing me the forum to share my thoughts, hopes and dreams that have called for my voice for so long.
